Teaching

I'm working toward a classroom, not away from one. The coursework for an M.S. in computer science at the University of Colorado Boulder is finished and the degree is pending, which covers the technical side. A B.S. in business administration from Purdue University, plus eighteen years running a media company and a consulting firm, covers the operating side. I'm aiming at my first adjunct course for spring 2027.

Research direction

My research interest is how main-street organizations, family firms, county offices, nonprofits, actually adopt new technology, and why so much of it never sticks. The people writing about technology adoption mostly haven't had to keep a courthouse running while they changed how it works. I have, for the last two years, first for Margin's clients and now from a farm company's own technology seat, and I want to write about what I've seen. The first piece is up: Nobody adopts software.
