Speaking & Press
Keynotes, panels, podcast guest spots, and media interviews. Topics spanning podcasting, AI, entrepreneurship, and the power of story.
Speaking Topics
Every talk is customized to the audience. These are starting points, not scripts.
Most organizations don't have a process problem. They have a conversation nobody is willing to have. Drawing from investigative journalism, a career in media entrepreneurship, and the journey into executive coaching, this talk explores what I'm learning about the difference between fixing symptoms and asking the question underneath them.
Lived experience with homelessness, building a company from nothing, and the difference between fixing people from above and sitting with them until they can see. A talk about how hardship changes the way you lead, coach, and show up for the people around you.
The origin story of creating one of America's first true crime podcasts as a college freshman in 2008, and what nearly two decades of investigative storytelling has taught about audience, truth, and responsibility.
How small and mid-size businesses can use AI and automation to reclaim time, reduce errors, and compete with companies ten times their size. Practical frameworks, not buzzwords.
Lessons from building a six-show podcast network from a dorm room microphone. Content strategy, team building, monetization, and the decisions that matter more than downloads.
Why the most effective leaders, salespeople, and consultants are storytellers first. How narrative structure applies to pitches, presentations, and brand building.

Shane Waters is a podcasting pioneer, technology builder, and executive coach. He created one of America's first true crime podcasts in 2008 and has since built the Myths & Malice podcast network (6 shows, 1,500+ episodes) and Margin Consulting, an AI and automation consultancy for small businesses. Based in Wabash, Indiana.
Shane Waters has spent nearly two decades at the intersection of storytelling and technology. In 2008, as a college freshman in Indianapolis, he launched what became one of the first true crime podcasts in America, driven by a simple impulse: campus crimes were going unreported, and someone needed to talk about them. That instinct to see problems and solve them has defined his career ever since.
Today, Shane is the founder of the Myths & Malice podcast network, home to six shows spanning true crime, history, and the paranormal, with more than 1,500 episodes published. He is also the co-founder of Margin Consulting, where he helps small and mid-size businesses reclaim their time through AI, automation, and operational strategy.
The through-line across all three chapters is the same: a journalist finds the question nobody is asking, a business owner builds the answer nobody has built, and a coach walks alongside someone while they find both. He is based in Wabash, Indiana, where he runs all ventures under Waters & Co. Holdings.
